Chelsea board are not willing to sanction the purchase of Declan Rice according to transfer guru David Ornstein.

Frank Lampard wants to add the West Ham midfielder to his squad and eventually convert him into a center back yet the Blues board of directors believes that the expenditure incurred on players this summer is enough to set the Blues on course.

The London club have overhauled their team bringing in Europe’s talented players to restore the beauty of the game at Stamford Bridge.

Kai Havertz and Timo Werner made their debuts in Brighton & Hove Albion’s game last Monday night, with the rest, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, and Thiago Silva yet to feature as the league progress.

Declan Rice, once a Chelsea kid was released by the club with concerns that he is not technically good enough.

The Hammers had a price valued in the region of £45m for the midfielder and if Frank Lampard can convince the board to have a change of mind on the 23-year old, his price value will be the next mountain to climb.

Having spent over 200m on player purchase this summer, Chelsea are still weighing their chances of replacing their goalkeeper also.
