A 20-year old unemployed lady had been sentenced to 150 penalty units.

The Ashaiman circuit court has sentenced a 20-year unemployed lady on two counts. Ayishatu Ganiu was charged on the use of offensive weapon contrary to section 70 of the criminal offences Act 1960(Act 29).

In addition, she was charged for causing harm contrary section 69 of the criminal offences Act 1960(Act 29). She was charged on her own guilty plea and was accordingly charged with the offences. Prosecuting, Chief S. Aperweh told the court that both the complainant, Sherif Adams.aged 22, unemployed and Ayishatu Ganiu reside at Apolonia.

She said on the October 22,2022, at about 8:30 pm at fitter line F3 spot, a fight ensued between the accused person and one Vanessa who is a witness in this case, and the complainant went in to separate them.

She recounted that the accused went to pick a bottle, broke it and used it to inflict wounds on the complainant's upper lips.Complainant sustained deep cut with blood oozing from it and was rushed to New Crystal Hospital at the Ashaiman Main Station branch for treatment.

Witnesses in the case assisted by two others arrested and brought the accused person and.the broken bottles which they presented as the bottle he used to inflict deep wounds on the complainant to the police station and a case was lodged against him.

She said the victim was visited at the hospital and found to be responding to treatment and statement was obtained from him. She said during police investigation, accused admitted to the offence. After investigation, accused person was charged with the offences and put before this honourable court.
