The YES votes were 27 representing 63% and the NO votes, 15 representing 36% and 1 rejected ballot.

The Municipal Chief Executive nominee of Kwabre East has been rejected by Assembly members.

Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu who was chosen by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to replace outgoing Hon Osei Assibey Bonsu and was deprived of support after failing to meet the percentage of votes cast required to be officially accepted as MCE.

The YES votes were 27 representing 63% and the NO votes, 15 representing 36% and 1 rejected ballot.The total votes cast were 43.

Despite the pleading of the outgoing MCE, Hon. Osei Assibey Bonsu at the start of the voting towards the Assembly members to endorse the nominee, they ended up exhibiting disapproval towards Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo’s nominee.

The Assembly has 10 working days to endorse him as the new MCE of Kwabre East since he pulled the 50% which demands him to be named again by the President.

A section of the Assembly members were furious at the decision of their fellows who voted against Hon. Opoku Agyemang Bonsu. Despite the circumstance, they expressed optimism that the next polls in the next 10 days will see the new MCE emerge victorious.

Mr Akwasi Kyei, the Ashanti Regional NPP Communications Director, representing the Ashanti Regional also came to grace the occasion.
