Senior Lecturer, Department of History and Political Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr Akwasi Amakye Boateng has described the comeback of Kwabena Adjei Agyapong as a step in the right direction.

According to him, the party needs to be applauded for using the right approach in dealing with the issue of the suspended Secretary.

He said Mr Kwabena Adjei Agyapong comported himself very well during the suspension and that has contributed to his comeback.

The New Patriotic Party( NPP) has welcomed Kwabena Agyapong after a six-year suspension. This follows passionate appeals from President Akufo Addo and other party stakeholders who argued that he is an indispensable asset to the NPP.

He added that it will be very difficult to admit that the suspension of the former Secretary has affected the party or not.

The former General Secretary of New Patriotic Party,  Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyapong was suspended indefinitely by the National Executive Committee of the NPP.

The Disciplinary Committee of the NPP recommended a 15 months suspension for embattled General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, and an indefinite suspension for its second vice-chairman, Sammy Crabbe.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the opposition New Patriotic Party upheld the decision by the party’s Disciplinary Committee and went further to commit both to an indefinite suspension.

The suspensions followed a petition brought forth by some NPP members who accused the General Secretary and the second Vice Chairman of undermining the party’s authority after the suspension of National Chairman, Paul Afoko.

The petitioners stated in their petition filed November 4, 2015, that;

“Kwabena Agyepong has rubbished and keeps rubbishing the suspension of Afoko from his chairmanship. This is our view is an act of mischievous contempt for the authority of the Party as a whole, including its elders, its leadership, and its structures.
