Kumasi Technical Institute Tutors thank the Government for the Introduction of Technical and Vocational Education Training TVET in Our School for Women.

The Authorities and Tutors of the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) together with the female students in the school have a walk through the streets of some parts of the Kumasi metropolis in the Ashanti region to showcase the need for young girls to engage themselves in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) that has been introduced by the government.

According to the authorities, technical causes that have been introduced in the various technical and vocational schools have come to stay to broaden the knowledge of the youth which will help the students, especially the girls to get employment.

The walk started from the premises of the school, through the streets of Amakom, the Labour roundabout Fante Newtown and Jubilee park then to Asem street and lastly ended at the KTI premises where it started.

Madam Lucy Agyemang, a Tutor at the Department of Welding in the Kumasi Technical Institute in an interview with Soireenews.com said, the motive behind the float is to show off the female students in the school to the world and to let the public know that technical education is not only meant for men only as women are also capable when it comes to the field of technical skills.

Adding that the school can boast of about 250 female students and most of them are in technical education training to equip themselves with technical innovative ideas to build their lives.

She stated that, it is about time people put aside the notion that technical training is only meant for men but with support for women, they too will have a passion for technical education which others will also emulate from them to upgrade their life.

She urged parents not to discourage their female wards who want to engage themselves in the TVET skills but rather should give them all the necessary support they need since it will help them shortly which will benefit the family.

Mr Gabriel Osei Kingsford, the Metropolitan Training Officer for TVET Coordinator stressed that the time has come to disregard the impression most people have against technical education that, it is meant for low-minded people is never true as people perceive but advised the students to take their studies seriously in the field of the technical education for a brighter future.

He continued that the government is doing its best in ensuring that Technical and Vocational Education Training yields good results in the life of Ghanaian youth.

He urged the students to also recommend TVET and its benefits to their colleagues who are about to enter into Senior High Schools to also choose and embrace technical education as it will help them in future to get employable skills.
