The Kumasi Center for National Culture under the auspices of the National Commission of Culture has through drama admonished the people of Obuasi to be wary of the deadly novel coronavirus.

The activities that characterized the event were choral music, cultural dance, and drama with one common goal, drumming home the importance of adhering to the covid-19 protocols.

The executive director of the center Mr. Barima Asiedu Sakyi explained the rationale behind the program is on record that Obuasi has the highest number of covid-19 cases in the Ashanti region since Ghana recorded her first case.

 It's therefore important to caution the people against the virus" Barima said.

He further stated that similar events have taken place in some communities in the region including KNUST in the Oforikrom municipality, Old Tafo in the Tafo Pankrono municipality all in a bid to curtail the spread of the virus.

On the part of the Obuasi Municipal Health Directorate, the Acting Health Director, Nana Yaa Manu advised the people of Obuasi to ignore the fallacies surrounding the virus and adhere strictly to the preventive protocols.

She further called on the traders to fill up the various veronica buckets with water as she has observed most of them are left without water for days.

Nana Esi Mensah, the queen mother of the market women was full of praises for the organizers of the event and promised to make sure her subjects follow to the latter, the preventive measure put in place by the government.

The event was funded by the national covid-19 trust fund and took place in the Obuasi market. Among others, the market women were taught how to effectively wash their hands. Nose masks and alcohol-based hand sanitizers were distributed to the attendants.
