They told that their investigations have revealed that the elders and kingmakers in the area had followed the due process for the selection and installation of Nana Obuobi Odiahenkan Ababio II who comes from the Okame family which was the original royal family to be installed chief in the area.

Scores of citizens and residents of Konkondu, the farming community in Aburi of the Eastern Region have appealed to the chief of Aburi Divisional Area, Otoobour Djan Kwasi II to develop a high sense of kinsmanship to perform the swearing-in of the newly installed chief of Konkondu, under the stool name, Nana Obuobi Odiahenkan Ababio II.

According to them, they are appealing to Otoobour Djan Kwasi II who doubles as the Adontenhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area to critically consider the performance of the ceremonial rituals to satisfy the chieftaincy status of Nana Obuobi  Odiahenkan Ababio II in order to help to promote peace in the area. 

They stressed that the ceremonial swearing-in of their chief by Aburihene would go along way to give the traditional and chieftaincy legal backing to Obuobi Odiahenkan Ababio II to be recognized as the substantive chief of Konkondu community who succeeded the late chief of Konkondu, Nana Obuobi Oduama II.

They indicated that their investigations have revealed that the elders and kingmakers in the area had followed the due process for the selection and installation of Nana Obuobi Odiahenkan Ababio II who comes from the Okame family which was the original royal family to be installed chief in the area.

"We want to state that per historical antecedent of the area it means that the person who comes from the Okame lineage or family to be installed the chief of the area, so the installation of Nana Obuobi  Odiahenkan Ababio II as the chief for the area by the elders and kingmakers is generally in it right direction which should not be challenged by the elders from the feuding faction," they reaffirmed.

The citizens made this statement when some senior journalists visited the area in the fact findings mission recently.

Speaking in an interview with these journalists, Nana reiterated that he is legally, traditionally and customarily installed chief by the accredited heads and principal kingmakers, elders and heads of the family to ascend the throne to succeed the late chief, Nana Obuobi Oduama II after his demise.

He noted that his installation was rightly in accordance with the traditions, norms and customs of Konkondu under the Chitainftancy Act.  

He pointed out that immediately after the death of Nana Obuobi Oduama III, some self-seeking elders from Okame, Oboukwe and Ason-Abena families arrogated power to themselves to perform illegal and uncustomary rites to illegally install a self-styled chief under the stool name, Nana Obuobi Oduama III to succeed the late substantive chief without recourses the norms, traditions, customs and arrangement of Konkondu community.

According to him, since that person didn't have the chieftaincy capacity to ascend the throne, some elders of the families of Okame, Oboukwe and Ason-Abena sent the matter to Akropong Traditional Council.

He pointed out that some prominent elders and Head of families from Aburi including the chief of Aburi, Otoobour Djan Kwasi III were invited by the members Akropong Traditional Council to be testified in the chieftaincy.

And after the thorough deliberation of the matter, he indicated that the members of the council with their wisdom ruled the case against the self-seeking elders.

In that regard, the chief mentioned that the judgement from the Akropong Traditional Council ordered the accredited elders and kingmakers of the area to absolutely dethrone the self-styled chief (Nana Obuobi Oduama III) and install the right person who is from the Okame family of the late substantive chief of the area.

He stated that the head of the Okame family, Mr Yaw Ayisu and Head Oboukwe of family, Okyere Opare destooled Nana Obuobi Oduama IIl which led to his selection and installation.

He called on all and sundry to support him to develop the area.
