Ronald Koeman has branded Angel Di Maria’s comment on Lionel Messi as ‘disrespectful.’

The Barcelona coach has cautioned the player to show some respect to Barcelona for the reason that Messi is still their asset.

The Blaugranas and Paris Saint Germain will play in the knockout stage of the Champions League two weeks time and Ronald Koeman is not interested in comments from the opposite side.

Angel Di Maria, whose contract finishes at the end of the current season was asked by Canal+ if his compatriot would join him in Paris and his response was positive but called to let this progress.

"I hope so," Di Maria told Canal+

"There's a big chance. We have to be calm and to let things develop."

Ronald Koeman was not pleased with the words of the Argentine and condemned the action of Di Maria after his sides 5-3 extra-time win at Granada in the Quarterfinals of the Copa Del Rey.

He spoke that such comments breed unnecessary tension in the ties ahead of them.

"It's disrespectful," Koeman told.

"It's wrong to say such a thing, and it only heats up the Champions League game even more. It's not fair. I don't think it's respectful towards Barcelona to talk about a player of ours.

"They talk about Leo a lot. He's a Barcelona player, and we have a tie to play against them."
