Know the Covid-19 Hotspot areas in Ghana

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) says the Greater Accra and Ashanti Region, remain the two major hotspots regions of COVID-19 cases in the country.

Ghana’s case count of the covid-19 disease stands at 5,127 with 22 deaths. 494 persons have recovered so far.

The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Aboagye gave a district-based analysis of Ghana’s COVID-19 cases today [ May 12, 2020], at the Ministry of Information’s media briefings.

Greater Accra

The Greater Accra has seen most of Ghana’s covid-19 cases, recording 3981 cases out of 5,127.

In the Greater Accra Region, the four main districts where majority of the region’s cases have been recorded are in the Accra Metropolitan, Tema Metropolitan, Klottey Korle and Kpong Katamanso

Dr Patrick Aboagye saysTema remains the hottest spot in the Greater Accra Region

He also mentioned Ablekuma, Okaikwei South and North, Ga Central Municipal, Ashiaman and Adenta areas as places of concern.

Ashanti Region

The Ashanti Region has so far recorded 662 covid-19 cases, according to the GHS

In the region, Obuasi remains the hottest spot. Other hotspots areas in the region are Kumasi, Oforikrom, and Nkawie.

Dr Aboagye also named Old Tafo, Asokwa, Kumasi Municipal, Kumasi Metropolis as areas recording high numbers of COVID-19 cases.

He said Suame remains one of the areas with high figures in the Kumasi Metropolis.

Central Region

The Central Region also follows the Greater Accra and Ashanti Region in most cases recorded in the country with 154 cases.

In the Region, Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abbrem (KEEA) District, Cape Coast, Ajumako, and Ashiam are the hotspots
