The Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Honorable Osei Assibey Antwi has praised traders approach towards observing the various covid-19 protocols in the capital of the Ashanti Region and has cautioned flouters of the health directives to be concerned.

He told that various measures put in place by the Assembly is sinking in the minds of sellers and buyers despite the experience of a few anomalies yet efforts are being absorbed to make sure there is the fulfilment of the President’s call to help contain the various.

The Mayor was on the streets of Kumasi observing the situation of marketing women still selling in lanes when they have already been told to return to their allocated market sites to make movement in the Metropolitan tranquil and distanced.

He told Soireenews that although the majority of people are perfectly complying with the various protocols yet since the few numbers still put others at risk, there is the need to strengthen enforcement.

“We observed that on several occasion we had to prompt people to wear it meaning that the announcement has to go on,” he said.

“Everybody has the mask either in the pocket or not properly won. More than 70 per cent have done it properly but the remaining 30 per cent can cause the problem, therefore, hence the need to strengthen enforcement and be each brother’s keeper.”

He called on the press to help spread the message on the need to observe all the health protocols to prevent the virus from spreading further.

“This town round I am counting on you the press. We have as many as 50 media houses so if the message is propagated well, people will embrace the covid and I'm sure what we have done today will bring improvement. This is the beginning of the action,” he added.
