A call has been made to the general public, particularly the citizens of the Ga State to disregard the claim made in the well-circulated media reports by one Nii Yaotey Oto-Ga aka Emmanuel Yaotey Tackie Yarboi that His Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is not the substantive Paramount Chief of Ga Traditional Area in the Greater Accra Region.

According to the Greater Accra Regional of Chiefs (GARHCs), His Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II who doubles as the President of the Ga Traditional Council (GTC), the house has recognized King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II as the only install Ga Mantse and that those who are parading themselves as Ga Mantse are imposters.

The House pointed out that King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is traditionally, legally, and customarily installed by the only Principal Kingmaker of the Ga Paramount Stool, Nii Dr. Tetteh Kwei II to ascend the throne of Ga Mantse, the development which has informed the house's decision to induct him into the folds of GARHCs.

The House asserted that the decision was based on the evidence King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has been officially inducted into the membership of the  GTC on September 30, 2017, and he was also sworn into the GTC as its President on October 4, 2021.

Following this development, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has been inducted into membership of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs as the Ga Mantse on October 22, 2021.

The Ga Mantse was ushered into the Gugisberg Hall at exactly 11:30 am on 22nd October 2021 when he was inducted into the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, known in private life as Dr. Kelvin Nii Tackie Abia, was duly sworn in by the Ga Paramount Stool Dzasetse (Principal Kingmaker) Dr. Nii Tetteh Kwei II, a host of Dzasefoi (Kingmakers) and other traditional leaders as per Custom and Tradition demands.

Aside from that development, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has been officially sworn in as Mantse (Chief) of Ga Traditional Area by a Circuit Court Judge and swore judiciary oaths after the Accra Regional House Of Chiefs has gazetted him under the Ga Traditional Council on September 9, 2021.

His swearing-in ceremony followed the acquisition of his Gazette as endorsed by the Greater Accra National House of Chiefs.

The current Ga king succeeded in securing his Gazette from the National House of Chiefs qualifying him as the substantive Ga Mantse after a protracted dispute over his legitimacy to the throne.

Meanwhile, a press statement from the office of Ga Mantse and copied to the news outlet in Accra noted that it is the fake news being peddled by Nii Yaotey Oto-Ga and that such a report should be treated as contempt it deserves.

The statement alluded to the fact that "Nii Yaotey Oto-Ga who is leading this baseless crusade against Ga Mantse has no locus and that he is not legitimate Ga Principal Kingmaker(Ga Dzasetse) and the statement described him as a ring leader of trouble makers in the Ga State.

The statement dated Friday, May 5, 2022, stated that the only Principal Kingmaker of the Ga Paramount Stool is Nii Dr. Tetteh Kwei II, adding that in 2010 he was the one who installed King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, as a Ga Mantse and that this protracted chieftaincy status as regard Ga Mantse should be things of the party.

The statement stressed that by the ruling of the members of the Judiciary Committee of the Ga Traditional Council, the court ruled; " it is hereby ordered that the first defendant (Yaotey Oto-Ga) aka Emmanuel Yaotey Tackie Yarboi is restraint from holding himself as the Ga Dzasetse.

Again the statement asserted that the similar ruling in 2018 by the judiciary committee of the Ga Traditional Council; ".... declaration that Dr. Nii Tetteh Kwei is the substantiative Ga Principal Stool Dzesetse since his installation in 2006 was by the Ga custom and tradition."

The statement added that Emmanuel Yaotey Yarboi aka Nii Yaotey Oto-Ga would be well advised to abide by the court order and not to act contemptuously.

The statement pointed out that; "Indeed section 57 (5) of the Chieftaincy Act 2008, Act No 70059 States that; "a person shall not be considered to be chief for the performance of a function under the Act or any order enactment unless that person has been registered for the performance of that function in the national."

For his part, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru ll told journalists that no court has ruled on the matter of legitimacy of the self–styled chief of the Ga state who ought to be attacked for his integrity.

“I remain the legitimate chief of the Ga state by the Chieftaincy Act 759 of 2008 which has it stated in Section 57, Sub- Section (1) Who a Chief is,’’ he declared.

Nii Teiko Tsuru explained that, based on Section 57, sub-section (1) of the above Act, a chief is a person hailing from the appropriate house and lineage, validly nominated, selected, enstooled, or installed by the relevant customs laws and usage of the particular area.

He said, in the case of Nii Adama Latse the situation was not by the Act so how can a court rule on his legitimacy when the process of nomination was questionable he questioned.

He explained that appointing a Ga Mantse is the preserve of the Ga Paramount Stool Dzase (GPSD) made up of the four (4) Royal Houses.

Thus, it is not true the court has decided on the legitimacy of the said chief," he added.

‘’The Ga Dzasetse of the Ga state on the strength of the ruling by the Greater Regional House of Chiefs 2014 which declared the Ga stool vacant hence my nomination by the royal house indicating his nomination went through the mail,” he maintained.
