In solidarity with those who have been impacted by the continuing drought in some regions of the country, Kenyan ministers will forgo their salaries for one month.

According to a statement from the presidency, the cabinet decided that the money raised from each member will go toward governmental actions to aid the impacted Kenyans.

The "unacceptably high" prices of maize, a basic food, were also mentioned, and market support for farmers who were harvesting their crop was promised.

Millions of tonnes of corn were previously predicted to be imported by a minister, but the cabinet announced that this would now happen in February to give farmers a head start in selling their goods.
