The Junior Doctors' Association of Ghana has demissed a wise spread media reports to the effect that a doctor at the Manhyia District Hospital in the Ashanti Region has prescribed a wrong medication to a child at the hospital on Saturday November 27, 2022.
The Association in a press statement signed and issued by its President, Dr.Louisa A. Nkrumah and Secretary, Dr Norbert Kipo and copied to Soireenews.com noted that its attention has been drawn to an alleged misunderstanding between a doctor and a nurse at the Manhyia District Hospital, which occurred on Saturday November 27, 2022.
"While we don't condone the actions of the father, it is imperative to set the records straight on the  falsehood being peddled to bring the professional competence of the doctor into the disrepute," the statement noted.
The Association stated that the doctor did not review any child on the surgical ward on the day in question.
It noted that no prescription was written for a child by the doctor on the said date and therefore she could not have prescribed a wrong dosage.
According to the Association, the non-availability of the intravenous fluid prescribed promoted the nurse to call the doctor to delete it from the system to avoid extra billing.

The Association entreated the media practitioners or houses to pull down their broadcast concerning the alleged wrong prescription of medication and entreat the general public to disregard such allegations against the doctor.
The Association stressed that the doctors and nurses have always had a peaceful collaboration and we will continue to work as a team to provide quality healthcare cherished clients and the people of Ghana at large.
