Journalists Against LGBTQI+ have eulogised President Akufo-Addo for stipulating that same-sex marriage will never happen under his presidency.

Journalists Against LGBTQI+ have commended President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for stipulating that LGBTQI+ will not be legalised in Ghana.

President Akufo-Addo made the statement last Saturday that same-sex marriage will never happen under his regime.

“I have said it before, and let me stress it again, that it will not be under the Presidency of Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo that same-sex marriage will be legal,” he said Saturday.

Reacting to the President’s statement, Journalists' Against LGBTQI+ in their statement signed by the convener, Isaac Boamah Darko and copied to Soireenews.com today Monday, March 1, 2021, say, "We are gladly convinced that no such abominable act would be countenanced and legalised by the government or whatsoever," the group said in a statement That notwithstanding, the statement called for a Legislative Instrument (L.I) to be enacted, discussed and passed with an explicit expression capturing all persons who go about saying they are LGBTQI+ be dealt with accordingly.

"We are frantically hoping that our aforementioned call would be given expeditious consideration and action else we would resort to the Supreme court of our land for a clear interpretation of Section 104 of the Criminal Code 1960.

"On the flip side, we are much grateful to all our media colleagues for frowning upon cum speaking against this disgusting act," the statement concluded.
