Member of Parliament for Jaman South in the Bono Region, Mr. William Okofo Darteh has pledged to support sensitization programs on the COVID-19 vaccines to ensure his constituents have a fair idea about the vaccine before taking it.

He was speaking to Soiree News reporter Nana Ama Asiedu concerning the arrival of the first consignment of the covid-19 vaccine in the country and the necessary education to be made before taking it.

Meanwhile, the government says the first segment of the populace to receive the arrived 600,000 doses of the vaccine will be health workers, adults of 60 years and over, people with an underlying health condition, frontline executives, legislature, judiciary, and their related staff, frontline security personnel, some religious leaders, essential workers, and teachers.

But Mr. Okofo stated that he himself cannot educate his constituents on the vaccine as he has no formal knowledge of it therefore will play his quota by supporting the health worker on the vaccine’s education to ensure residents of his area do understand and accept it.

He expressed the belief that only the health professionals will be able to clear any perception in the minds of the Ghanaians people on the vaccine as some are scared it might have a negative impact on them should they take it, which makes it very essential for only the professionals to embark on such education which is ready to support in his constituency.

He added that even if it becomes necessary for him to demonstrate taking the vaccine for his constituents to follow after all the education, he is ready to do it.
