Jaman South Cashew Farmers have raised concerns over the dwindling price of cashew. Farmers say Government should act as soon as possible

The Jaman South Cashew Farmers have registered their displeasure over what they described as a continuous fall of cashew pricing with the current price been pegged at GHC5.

In a stakeholder meeting in Jaman South Municipal Assembly to find a lasting solution to the situation, the farmers argued that the price been pegged at Gh5 is not favoring them hence calling on the government to permanently address the menace.

They are also bewailed on the continuous rate at which cashew smuggling from Ivory Coast into Ghana at the country’s border areas such as Jaman South among others.

The situation according to the farmers is greatly affecting the expense and therefore called for immediate actions at the borders to curb the practice.

Nana Bediako Kyereme, Drobo Abontendomhene on the other hand has charged the various MMDCEs and the MPs in cashew growing areas to form a caucus to partner with the government in order to achieve a possible solution to end tug-of-war on cashew pricing.

Meanwhile, the Jaman South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Alhaji Abu has assured the farmers that the government committed to boosting cashew production in the country therefore it measures in place to stabilize the dwindling price of cashew in the country.
