Kwaw Kese has admonished the Akufo-Addo led government to stop the $150 dollars as COVID-19 test fees at Airports.

According to him, the Administration is only trying to make money for itself with the test fees as it has no reasonable basis for its actions.

He pointed out that President Akufo-Addo's ascribing of the spike in the coronavirus to foreigners who made their way into the country during the festive season in his last address made no sense.

The president had earlier said:

"Recent genomic sequencing undertaken by our scientists have established that some arriving passengers tested positive for new variants of COVID-19."

Kwaw Kwesi questioned the accuracy of the tests and asked if it was aimed at the wellbeing of Ghanaians instead of the well being of certain individuals.

“I want to ask that if that is the case, is the COVID-19 tests at the airport not accurate because everybody who comes into this country through the airport is supposed to pay $150 and take a test. So, how come the people who come into this country rather bring coronavirus after taking the test?”

“Is the test a scam or it's real? If the text isn't accurate, then stop it – which means you should stop taking the $150 test fees. Stop scamming at the airport and stay woke.” He quizzed.

He now joins in the list of celebrities who have been questioning the high testing fee.

A Plus, Stonebwoy and Sarkodie have all condemned the act.

Stonebwoy bitterly complained at the astronomical price of the mandatory tests for passengers that came into force on Tuesday, September 1 following the reopening of the airport after almost six months of closure.

The dancehall artiste took to his Twitter to express his disappointment at the sum.

"I Pay 600 Rands to do corona test in SA less than 24hrs to fly back to GH... But authorities in SA insist I Provide POP which is $150 mandatory corona test fee required by the Ghana authorities without Which I’m Not Boarding under the same 24hrs.. I’m confused" he said.

A Plus, on the other hand, labelled the $150 COVID-19 test fee at the Kotoka Airport as evil.

He exclaimed that the action of the government is pure wickedness especially when its Ghanaians that have to pay and not foreigners.

A Plus pointed out that the test in most countries is free for its citizens, citing the UAE as an example.

Even though the Akufo-Addo regime had earlier defended the price when it came under criticism initially, it said that the price is on the average as compared to countries running similar tests, A  Plus has said that the prices don't make any sense considering the resources that Ghana can boast of.
