A call has been made to the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to invest heavily in youth and sports programmes by way of empowering the ministry of youth and sports to offer youth training in various sporting disciplines including basketball, volleyball, machine pitch baseball, flag football, soccer, and T-ball.

Paying serious attention to the prioritisation of youth and sports programmes, according to the Development Chief of Ga Sapeiman-Fiase, Accra, Nii Abbey Okanfrah, would enable the government to create opportunities for many more citizens to participate in sports for recreation and laurels.

This, Nii Abbey Okanfrah, who doubles as the Chief Executive of Noryaa Benevolent Foundation, explained, would also enhance the image of Ghana at international sports, and as a viable commercial and job creation opportunity for Ghanaians, especially the youth.

Nii Abbey Okanfrah was speaking to journalists when Noryaa Benevolent Foundation organised a football match for the youth in Ga Sapeiman-Fiase to climax this year's Homowo festival of the citizens of Ga in the area.

The foundation presented two sets of jerseys, a cup and an amount of GH¢2000.00 to the Sissamba Empire Football team who won the trophy during this year's Homowo festival football match.

Nii Abbey Okanfrah also made donations of some items to the chief in the area.

Speaking further, he promised to invest heavily in youth and sports programmes, and thus called on parents to endeavour to enrol their children in some of the sporting disciplines.

He said sports remains an emerging industry that required support to develop; a reason he called on the government to empower the National Sports Authority (NSA).
