The Interior Minister, Hon. Ambrose Derry has today, 16th June 2021 paid a visit to the victims and family of the deceased in the 2020 election violence in Techiman.

The Minister's first point of call was at the Techiman Central Mosque where he conferred with the Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Musah Abubakar and the Zongo Chiefs.

Honourable Ambrose Derry assured the Regional Chief Imam and the Zongo Chiefs that government regrets the deaths of the person who lost his life during the election's shooting incident and investigations is steadily ongoing. He also assured them that whoever finds guilty of the unfortunate incident will face the full consequences of the law.

He further said the Ministry is seriously considering providing security personnel video camera attached to their uniforms which will record their activities to help the Ministry to run smooth and swift investigations should such incidents happen again. He also urged the citizenry at large to assist the police in their investigations.

Honourable Ambrose Derry and his entourage visited the victims and the family of the deceased to console and reaffirm the government's commitment to ensuring that the victims and family of the deceased get the justice they deserved.

He revealed that he has been receiving progress reports from the CID which denies the young man who lost his life was an armed robber. He apologized to the family of the deceased for the misinformation spreading across the airwaves and urged them to exercise patience with the government because they will get the justice they deserve.

Hon. Ambrose Derry was accompanied by the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan, Chief Director of the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council, Mr George Padmore Mensah, Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. John Kofi Donyina and the security command.

Family's of the victims and the deceased urged the Interior Minister to stay true to his words by finding justice for them. 

They also told Hon. Ambrose Derry to fight for compensation for the victims.
