Tahiru Banda has called on all movie directors to instil discipline in their cast on any movie set.

The movie Director with the Paykus production noted that the uncultured behaviour of actors and producers almost always leads to bad end products.

According to him, amateurs who lack the poise and characteristics of proper actors will ruin the industry if left by themselves.

Hard work and focus are the only remedies to indiscipline, he argued.

He said this in a statement in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the audition and launching of a local movie produced in Sunyani titled 'Moment of lost'.

His words echo the sentiments of his colleague, Diabolo, who had earlier stated that Ghana isn't ranking high in the international movie market because her movies are now being done by unprofessional actors, directors, and writers.

“The coincidence is that I will say the industry has been hijacked by unprofessionals unfortunately, as a two-time executive of the Film Producers Association, we have always complained. We ask ourselves, what can we do? But then when we have to go back in retrospect, you can tell that when we started videos in the late ‘80s, NAFTI was not approving the productions we were doing”.

“One, Because we were not trained as filmmakers, and then two, because we were breaking new grounds and we were using videos that the professionals thought was not too professional to use." Diabolo stated.

Mr Tahiru further pleaded with actors and actresses, especially the younger ones, to encourage themselves and work harder to attract other people into the industry.

He concluded that self-confidence is the key to staying professional throughout a long career.
