Increase Our National Service Allowance Now! --NSS Personnel Association Urges Government Of Ghana
Concerned National Service Scheme (NSS) Personnel Association Ghana has appealed to the government of Ghana to consider increasing the monthly allowance for NSS personnel in the country to bring some relief to its personnel who are currently serving the nation.
The Association stressed the need for the government to consider the global economy challenges facing Ghanaians and increase the allowance of the personnel to safe their lives.
In a statement copied to Soireenews.com signed and issued by the leadership of the Association in the persons of  Kofi Antwi Boasiako, Amdau Haruna and Paa Clement, the  Association pointed out that it has been the public outcry of the persistently increase in goods and services and other essentials such as rent  allowances have also seen the skyrocketing which have seen the living condition of service personnel unbearable as the monthly takehome is GH¢559.04.
It urged that Government should intervene as a matter of urgency to consider the plight of service personnel by increasing the monthly allowance by at least 50 percent to ease our burden
The Association appealed to the National Service Scheme, Controller and Accounts General Department, Finance Ministry and the President of Ghana to consider the global economy challenges and increase the NSS allowance for our personnel.
The Association stated that "We understand that things are hard for the government and we are also not in normal times but just like the government has been able to increase Salaries of Public Sector workers by 30%, we are hopeful that National Service Personnel in the country who are assisting the various Public institutions can also be cushioned to improve their living conditions."
"Again we are also appealing to the Ministry of Finance, Controller and Accounts General Department and the National Service Scheme to speed up with processes towards the payment of Monthly Allowances for National Service Personnel who commenced service November 1, 2022 and has yet not received their allowances.," the Association noted.
According to the Association, some personnel who were posted far from their regions and hometowns to serve the nation in other regions have threatened to quit the service since their parents are unable to assist them anymore
The Association, therefore, urged all National Service Personnel in the country to continue to serve the country with the knowledge and skills that we acquired from our various Universities and Institutions  irrespective of the hardships we may go through to help in the Nation Building.
