A female worker at the Office of the President, Madam Theresa Addison, says her statement made to the effect that the Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia would be the next President after the second term of President Nana Addo Dankwa Addo- Addo's administration is very unfortunate.

In this regard, Madam Addison who is a close associate to Dr Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia immediately appealed to the general public particularly, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng for forgiveness.

"I’m very sorry to Alan Kyeremanteng," Bawumia’s girl apologized.

Madam Addison made the statement at the funeral of the late former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Forestry Commission of Ghana, Mr Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John at Sakora-Wonoo Community in the Ashanti Region on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

This was in the wake when Madam Addison was given an opportunity to introduce Dr Bawumia to the gathering to officially announce the funeral donations of President Akufo-Addo to the family of the late NPP former Scribe.

However, in her press statement released on Friday, June 4, 2021, to render an apology for making such a statement in public, Madam Addison writes "On Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the funeral of the late former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John, I had the singular honour to announce the funeral donations of the President, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Vice President, H. E. Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The statement asserted that "In the course of the announcement, I made unfortunate remarks to the effect that H. E. Alhaji Dr Bawumia will be the next President of Ghana.

According to the statement, the lady said "Upon a sober reflection, I have come to the realization that I acted irresponsibly and the said assertion was needless and inappropriate."

The statement noted that "on this premise, I regret my actions and sincerely retract and apologize unconditionally to the Leadership and rank and file of the NPP for making such prejudicial comment that is offensive to the rules of the party."
