The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako has assured party supporters that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will honour the various promises made before elections including the basic structures, systems, and services required for to progress the standard of living in the Ashanti Region.

He guaranteed that as the Chairman of the Region, he will make sure the promises are fulfilled before the president leaves office, to increase their chances in the 2024 elections. He also took the opportunity to express sincere thanks to God and all stakeholders who played a role in the NPP’s victory in the Region and across the country.

“Lots of projects will be embarked on Nana Addo’s second term in the Ashanti Region and we hope to see interchanges at Georgia roundabout, Suame, Anloga Junction, Bekwai roundabout and Santasi,” he said.

“The start of the Nyinahini Bauxite will help create job opportunities for our youth to be empowered financially. As the chairman in the Ashanti Region, it is my duty to make sure that the president’s promises are honoured in the Region and I surely know Nana Addo will not disappoint,” he added.

The New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the president-elect of Ghana after the Electoral Commissioner declared him winner of the 2020 elections on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

Ashanti Region, lived up to their usual expectation as the stronghold of the incumbent government, collecting almost 1.8 million. The Regional chairman addressing party supporters on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the Georgia Hotel appreciated the work of all stakeholders who helped the NPP to a successive victory and revealed the next party itinerary ahead of the year.

“Asantes have remembered the Developmental projects, Free Education policy, NABCO and many others,” he valued.

“We know that lots of circumstances prevented others from participating in this year’s elections yet per the statistics recorded, the NPP was credited with almost 72% votes out of the total valid votes cast.

"Our commitment to the party during the polls this year is a record and we are glad to be the kingmakers of the president-elect.

“We’ll move to all the constituencies, one radio stations to another and stakeholders including observing protocols to offer thanksgiving for their intrinsic support to the party.”

“I want to take the opportunity to extend our gratitude through the media to all Asantes and Ghanaians for your love for the party. Without you, the party wouldn’t have garnered almost 1.8m votes. Indeed, you (Asantes) have dealt fairly with the NPP and Nana Akufo Addo.”

The NPP Youth Organizer in the Ejisu Constituency, Henry Duah Boateng welcomed the chairman’s remarks with delight and asserted that the Tertiary education initiative is what he expects the president to honour immediately he is sworn into power next month.

“The regional chairman and executives have acknowledged the jobs done by the grassroots and have extended thanks to all including Ghanaians for retaining His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I am most happy for his words that Nana Addo will honour his promises in the Ashanti Region, including the tertiary promise to the youth. I am very pleased with that and we look forward to it.”

Others spoke on the party’s loss of parliamentary seats across the country, saying it is a wakeup call to other Members of Parliaments to work hard if they want to represent their various constituencies.

“The MPs did not help at all. Majority of them were in office for selfish interest and it has affected the party very well. Had it not being the Ashanti Region which intervened, things would have been unpleasant for us.

"MPs must work hard to help the party and that would be yardstick if they want to retain their seat,” Mr Marfo, also of the Ejisu constituency spoke.
