Sensational dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has said that he will now consider going into weed farming only if the trade will make him enough profit.

The multiple award-winning artiste pointed out that since the Ghanaian government has deemed weed farming a proper business, he sees nothing wrong in venturing into the sector if the gains would be abundant.

This revelation came after Ghana legalized the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes after Parliament passed the Narcotics Control Commission Bill, 2019 on Friday (March 20, 2020).

The new law empowers the Minister for Interior to grant licenses for the cultivation of cannabis of not more than 0.3 percent THC, the main psychoactive compound in cannabis that gives the users a high sensation, for industrial and medicinal purposes. The law also makes the country’s Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) a Commission with enhanced powers to oversee the industrial use of some narcotic substances.

Ghana’s Dancehall artiste further explained that because government's evaluation is always proper and thorough, the decision to legalize its usage for medicinal purposes and its commercialization should be embraced by all entrepreneurs in the country.

”Once the government that regulates the use of marijuana has legalized the cultivation because it knows the purpose and why somethings have to happen. The government will not just commercialize the export of marijuana, they did it because they know how viable it is so as a private businessman if I look at it and it’s viable why not?" he stated while speaking in an interview with Accra-based Hitz FM.
