Residents of Gomoa Apra told that land guards are bullying them for their properties and government must step in else the situation will turn sour.

Residents and developers at Gomoa Aprah, a developing community within Gomoa East District of the Central Region are living in fear as a result of the increasing land guard activities within the area.

The situation is brewing high tension in the community as land guards keep terrorizing indigenes of Gomoa Apra and preventing them from engaging their farming activities. 

According to information, these land guards do not only cause damage to uncompleted buildings and footings of developers but also terrorize residents and developers and the situation has become threatening for both residents and developers.

Power news reporter, Alex Donkoh speaking with some aggrieved residents of Gomoa Aprah bemoaned over the activities of the wicked land guards describing them as hardening criminals.

"We used to walk from here to Kasoa safely but the situation has changed. These land guards keep stalking us every time and it's threatening us a lot. We are calling on the government to beef up security because things are tough for us. We have nowhere to go, this is where we were born and fear is gradually gripping us," a resident said.

"There is fear everywhere. These land guards are trying to take over-purchased lands by employing intimidations. They have decided to retrieve their monies and abandon the lands for the sake of their lives. Nana Akufo Addo must step in with security else things will get out of hand," another told.

Moreover, the Odikro of Gomoa Apra, Nana Kofi Ansah II noted that " this is not the first time they are being attacked and their properties being destroyed by land guards purported to be working for some Chiefs and it is becoming alarming as we live in fear. 

"Several other developers and residents complained of the intimidation and brutalities they face in the hands of these weapon-wielding land guards."

The chief, elders and residents of Gomoa Aprah are calling on the Inspector General of Police and relevant security agencies to come to their aid to salvage them from threats and intimidations.

"I have spoken to the IGP I am appealing to the president to help us else lives will be lost. I am not happy about the situation at all. I wish we could stop everyone from going to the site since some have threatened residents with pistols.

"The land guard situation is alarming and the situation could turn worse if not handled."
