The National Democratic Congress(NDC) Parliamentary Candidate at Effutu, Mr James Kofi Annan, has stated that he was the true winner of the December 7, 2020, parliamentary election but for what he describes as ‘Effutu ECOWAS register.’

According to him, the party has a strong belief that the parliamentary election results were rigged in favour of the NPP candidate, Mr Alexander Afenyo Markin during the voter registration process.

Addressing the press, James Kofi Annan said “the Effutu NDC based it's 2020 electioneering campaign on the available registered population, head-count, residing in Effutu (we did not have access to the ECOWAS voters, with the exception of only about 500 that we chanced on). 

He noted that "With the head-count of the eligible voters present at the constituency, we were absolutely certain that we would secure not less than 55% of the votes.”

Recounting how NDC supporters and  some voters were intimidated and molested on the voting day Mr Annan said “despite all of the above, the voters who were genuinely residing in Effutu, gave the NDC candidate, Mr Annan, an overwhelming majority votes, sufficient to have been declared a winner to occupy the Effutu seat in Parliament.”
