Erstwhile Real Madrid star – Gareth Bale created a scene when he walked out of an interview after being asked whether he had played his last match for Wales.

The Tottenham Hotspurs player was not happy when he was asked about his future with the national team, following their 4-0 defeat to the Danes which saw Wales being eliminated from the Euro 2020 competition.

When the reporter began to ask Bale if the game would be his last for Wales, the forward walked out of the interview before the question had even been finished.

There has been speculation that the former Los Blancos star could call time on his career after the Euros and the 31-year-old had said ahead of the tournament that:

"I don’t want to say anything that is going to cause more chaos or more drama or cause a distraction."

Bale has now quelled fears that he may be set to retire, telling Welsh broadcaster SAC that:

"I want to continue to play.

"People ask stupid questions all the time, but obviously I love playing for Wales.

“I will play for Wales until the day that I stop playing football."

The 2022 World Cup is not too far away and Wales are in with a strong chance of qualifying, currently sitting third in their group and with a game in hand over Belgium and the Czech Republic.

"I feel like we have a very good way of playing when we play well and we need to keep that confidence high, keep playing football and I think we can qualify for the next World Cup."

Reflecting on Wales' defeat to Denmark, Bale told BBC Sport: "Yeah not how we wanted the game to go."
