Honourable Alfred Obeng Boateng
THE NEW PATRIOTIC Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai

The award winning MP explained that he has done a lot to provide social and infrastructure amenities in the areas of education, health, water, sanitation, electricity, road network, social welfare and sports among others to the people of Wenchi enclaves within his constituency.

Mr Boateng stated that when the contractor has abondaned the road contract awarded to him by the government after the clearing of the road, he used money from his own cofferrs somewhere in September 2021 to refill or fix the various death traps pot holes on the road and made the road accessible for the motorists.

Aside giving the face lift to the road networks infrastructure in Wenchi, the MP noted that he has provided loads of street lights to the people of Wenchi.

He mentioned that these street lights were fixed on the various principal streets within the township to improve security of the people in the area.

According to the MP, he has donated a total of two hundred (200) bags of cement for the renovation of the basic school classrooms block in the Wenchi township.

"I have personally sent the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency Deputy Organiser of the NPP, Mr. Ben Kumi and Wenchi Electoral Area Coordinator of the NPP, Mr Kwabena Amofa on Sunday November 20, 2022 to consult the chief and elders including the opinion leaders and youths of the Wenchi township on the market project that l want to do for the people in the area, so the accusation meted out me by the chief and elders of Wenchi of me not performing to bring development to the area came to me as a surprise," the MP stated.
"I respect my chiefs and elders and that when my attention has been drawn to the current accusation meted out to me, l sent my Special Aide this morning [Monday November 21, 2022] to respectively have a meeting with the chief and elders of Wenchi to hear their side of the issue and l would find solution to resolve the problem amicably. This is because l want peace to prevail in my constituency," Mr Boateng told journalist via telephone call today.
Mr Boateng was reacting to the current news publication to the effect he has failed to fix the deplorable road networks linking the Wenchi.
Speaking in an interview, the aggrieved residents voiced hotly over the laxity attitudes of the MP towards them.
Nana Kwabena Bine II, Saanahene of Wenchi, noted that they will be constrained to vote against the New Patriotic Party if their demands are not met.
“All roads linking the various communities are in a bad state. It’s very painful for a community like Wenchi to have a bad network connectivity. Even toilet facility for the over thousand population have become a problem. We are totally hampered by the MP and calling for a swift response from the government,” he narrated.
In addition, a committee member stated that several attempts to reach the authorities to seek redress to their grievances have been proven futile.
“We have been left behind. It seems we are not part of the country. We are calling on the Npp government to fulfill its promises.”
The Assembly member, Hon. Afukaah reiterated that the situation of his people's has given sleepless nights, despite their immense contributions to the growth of the economy.
“This electoral area has a major population in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, but no one cares about us. We produce the highest figure of cocoa and other farm products, but our roads have been left to rot. It’s our pious call on the government to come to our aid,” he concluded.
Reacting to the allegations, the MP noted that he has not failed the people of Wenchi enclaves and called on the residents to exercise patience since measures were put in place to fix the situation.
The MP pointed out that he has continued to lobby for the development of the area.
He maintained that because of the current economic crisis which hit the country that was why the government is finding it extremely difficult to release the money for continuition of the projects in the area.
The MP indicated that most of social and infrastructure intervention projects and programmes he carried in the area were funded from his own coffers.
Mr Boateng told the journalist that he has made the allocation of the fund to construct four seater modern toilet facilities in some electoral areas within the constitueny.
