Nana Kwame Asante II, Otumfuo’s Kwansentuomhene and the Chief of Fufuo

Otumfuo’s Kwansentuomhene and the Chief of Fufuo in the Atwima Nwabiagya District, Nana Kwame Asante II has made a courtesy call to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to kindly attend to perturbing land issues hindering the progress of the town.

Nana Asante II expressed displeasure on how certain chiefs have taken advantage of their influence by employing the name of the Asantehene in selling out lands of Fufuo for their own gains.

According to him, 20 percent of lands within the suburb has been sold by unqualified rulers, which obstructs the progress of Fufuo therefore, whatever measure needful to facilitate the development of the town is what he will employ.

“Ever since I was sworn in as chief by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, I have never sold a single land at Fufuom yet almost 50 percent of lands in this village now belongs to people who claim to have purchased it,” he said.

“The water body at which the town was named after has now been turned to a defecation grounds and I cannot watch this happen. I want the best for Fufuo and things must change. Chiefs that using Otumfuo’s name in matters of this nature must start facing me else I will soon employ my own measures,” he added.

He asserted that a call has been made to all residents in the town to submit their allocation documents to help put things in order to move the town forward. He mentioned that the linguist of Tutuehene, Akwasi Krah is guilty of majority of land claims at Fufuo hence the demand for him to be questioned.

“The linguist of Tutuehene is responsible for these actions.

“I have a video that shows that about 20 percent of lands sold have no allocation and owners have recognized Tutuehene’s linguist as the seller with others saying their land is a clan asset. This must stop and I cannot keep on watching without taking any measures.

Nana Kwame Asante II also pleaded to government to come to their aid in providing infrastructure for the welfare of inhabitants. Speaking to SoireeNews on Friday, May 1, 2020 at his home, he revealed the shortcomings of residents in the suburb and the need for the establishment of public elements to ease their way of life.

“I negotiated for the building of hundred beds hospital at Fufuom in partnership with some westerners. I invested $1milion yet the deal was void by the former District Chief Executive.

“We are in need of water and my appeal is to the DCE to come to our aid. We have limited transformers to supply us electricity and judging from the growth of Fufuo, we’ll need a few. I have spoken to the Electricity Company of Ghana at Offinso and I am prompting them once again," he briefed.

He also called on the construction of speed ramps on the main road in the suburb to help limit the speed at which drivers ply.

A 24-seater toilet facility was publicized to have been built and will soon be ready to be unveiled to the people.

“The Atwima Nwabiagya Rural Bank built us a toilet facility almost 15 years now. The place has been wacked and after the District Assembly failed to help us with a new one, my first concern since assuming office was to provide the people a lavatory.

"A 24-seater toilet facility will soon be unveiled,” he added.
