President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has insisted that the Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) policy of the Ghana Education Service will not be put into service.

The programme designed to be a part of the Education syllabus in Ghana next year was directed at empowering adolescents and young people to deepen their scope of existing activities.

It created scenes of discomfort for parents with rude confrontation from religious and faith based leaders towards the Ministry of Education for it's effort to defile the norms and culture of the country through the unfamiliar educational approach.

According to the Minister of Education during the 25th National Best Teachers Award in Kumasi, the cabinet of the Presidency did not agree with the implementation of the CSE as part of the renewed syllabus when the Education Ministry presented the idea. He spoke that the Ministry were directed to stick their policies according to Article 39 of the constitution of Ghana.

Nana Addo reassured parents and guardians that the CSE policy, which became a national debate, would not be implemented if Ghanaians are not in support of it. He revealed that anything that does not serve the interest of the Nation is irrelevant as long as his administration is concern.

“Following the argument on the CSE, I again affirm that it will not be implemented in our schools.

I am aware people want us to take action, and not let it be political talk.

I affirm that I will do it for them to know that it was not just a political statement that I made.

I have a lot of respect and love for Ghanaians.

Therefore, I will never take any action that does not serve the interest of Ghanaians,” he said.

The President made the pledge when he joined the congregation of the St George Catholic Church in Koforidua to worship as part of his three-day tour of the Eastern Region.

He further urged Ghanaians to unite for the accelerated development of the country.

“We hear a lot of rumors when elections are approaching; we must unite for the security of Ghana. We must preserve the peace and stability that we are enjoying as a country. Belonging to different parties does not imply we should not tolerate one another. We must live in togetherness,” he added.
