Ghanaian actor and comedian, Lilwin, says his upcoming series “cocoa season” will revive the movie industry
Lilwin has touted his upcoming TV series as the saviour of the Ghanaian movie industry.
According to him, the start of the upcoming TV series titled 'Cocoa Season' will signal the of the decline of the movie industry.
The series will feature known actors Kofi Adjorlolo, Vivian Jill, Mr Beautiful, Kalybos, and Agya Koo. Musicians such as `Kwesi Arthur, Sista Afia, Yaa Pono, Fameye, among others, with moisture of upcoming acts.
He stated that his series will break the monopoly that foreign movies are having in the movie market.
“Local movies help preserve our culture as a people and as an actor, I was not happy about how foreign series had dominated our screens. Despite the downfall of the film industry over the past years, I decided to do something creative that would receive the movie industry and continue to thrill movie loving fans."
"So I decided to combine veteran actors and popular musicians in this series so that both music and movie fans can have a feel of what their favourite artistes can do on the screens,” he claimed.
The movie will also contain his former manager Zack whom he once accused of taking him to a fetish Priest.
Lilwin won "Favorite Actor" at the sixth edition of the annual Ghana Movie Awards (GMAs)in 2015.
He was honoured by the United Nations for his campaigns against the illegal immigration in West Africa.
