I am Sorry; I Was Not Aware  That Della Sowah Was Prevented  To Congratulate Me–Sebastian Deh Apologizes To Defeated Kpando MP
Mr. Sebastian Fred Deh
Mr. Sebastian Fred Deh has stated that he was not aware that the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpando Constituency in the Volta Region, Madam Della Adwoa Sowah was disallowed from  congratulating him after he was declared winner of the Kpando parliamentary primaries held on Saturday May 13, 2023.

According to parliamentary candidate-elect for the NDC in the Kpando Constituency, he would be the last person to show disrespect to Mrs. Sowah since he has a cordial relationship with her and called for peace and unity within the party in the Kpando constituency.

Speaking on The Probe on Joynews hosted by  Blessed Sogah on Sunday, the defeated NDC lawmaker claimed that after the polls, she attempted to congratulate the winner of the primary, but she was denied the opportunity.
According to her, despite the ‘strange’ incident, she’ll continue to rally behind the NDC in the party’s quest to win the 2024 general election.
“Yes, I need to work with the PC elect. Unfortunately, yesterday [Saturday May 13, 2023] I attempted to congratulate him and I was stopped from congratulating him which was strange.
“But I hope going forward, we’ll be able to work together to secure victory for the NDC,”she told the host, Blessed Sogah.
“Definitely I’ll contribute my quota. I’ll do everything possible in my constituency and outside my constituency to ensure that he [John Dramani Mahama] becomes the president come 2025. That is a must,” she added.
Touching on her future in the party, she stated that currently she has no immediate plans of staging a comeback; stressing that her focus now is to help the NDC return to power in 2024.
Mrs. Sowah, who is a former Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, was amongst sixteen (16) incumbent NDC MPs who lost their bids in the party’s primaries on Saturday.
In her case, she polled 281 votes; as against Sebastian Fred Deh, who garnered 332 votes to clinch the candidacy.
But in an interview with Soireenews.com, on Wednesday May 16, 2023, Mr Deh stated that he didn't have knowledge that Madam Sowah requested to come to him to express her congratulations message to him and she was prevented from doing so.
Mr Deh described the situation as unfortunate, explaining that he never saw every little thing that occured after the declaration of the voting results which has went in his favour at the primaries held on Saturday May 13, 2023.
"l didn't see everything thing and l am confirming to you [referring to this journalist] that my own victory speech to be made in the venue, he couldn't do so, because the police took me away from the hall,' he stated.
Additionally, he mentioned that; "Because of that l have demonstrated a lot of maturity by issuing a public press statement to congratulate all people including Madam Sowah l have supposed to congratulate.
"It is even on public records that l have personally sent the congratulations message to Madam Sowah and follow the messages with a phone call to her, but unfortunately she has not responded to my messages yet as at the time that l am talking to you," Mr. Deh confirmed.
He reaffirmed that he sent a personal note to Madam Sowah even congratulating her for contributing to the peaceful nature of the election.
He pointed out that "I congratulated her on how her was able to manage her campaign devoid of character assassinations and personal attacks on other opponents, adding that l am on records to have done so to Madam Sowah."
He mentioned that "I said in the congratulations message in my public press statement that if l have offered someone before, during and after the day of the election, and it pains such person, then the person should kindly forgive me."
According to him,"So if there are issues that someone has prevented Mrs. Sowah from getting closer to me to congratulate me in the day of the declaration of the results, l want to plead that l am sorry to her. I did not seen those details and she knows that two of us have cordial relationship."
"So what would happen that if l win the contest against her and she wanted to come to me to congratulate me and l would prevent her. I am very sorry that that thing generally happens in this ways. But if she continues to harbour these things in her heart to be telling people that l did so, it would not bring peace and unity between the two. And that We have forget these issues so that we move forward," Mr. Deh suggested.
"Having being the winner of the parliamentary  slot, l have taken responsibilities of all what have occurred to others after the declaration of the results. And l am sorry for those who were hurt . I want to plead that they should forgive me. I am saying that there is no way l can see every little thing after the declaration of the result because of the crowds trooping to the venue to celebrate my victory.
"So if it could happens that Madam Sowah was prevented from congratulating at the hall, it is not intentional ," Mr. Deh reiterated.
However, Mrs Sowah fired back and stated that the explanations offered by Mr Deh to support his statement were not true reflection of what had happened at the venue.
