Ghanaian entrepreneur, philanthropist and citizen of and Asamankese in the Lower West Akim District of the Eastern Region, Mr Owen Kwame Frimpong popularly known as Darling has picked nomination forms to contest the parliamentary primaries for the Lower West Akim on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Announcing this in an interview with Soireeenews. com on Friday February 2023, 48-year-old young NDC aspirant stated that his decision to contest the race is not just to occupy the parliamentary seat, but because it avail himself to win the slot to serve his people from the current economic challenges facing them.
According to Mr. Frimpong who doubles as Chief Executive of the Darling Boy Fan Club, he is on the race to be able to use this opportunity to unite the NDCand help the party secure more votes to win the general elections in the year 2024.
Following this development, Mr Frimpong called on the delegates and members of the NDC to vote massively for him to win the parliamentary race and to the lead the NDC to win the Lower West Akim constituency seat for the NDC to use this opportunity to secure a future of education and employment for the youth of the area.
"When God blesses and permits for the delegates and members of the NDC to vote for me massively to win the NDC parliamentary primaries for the Lower West Akim constituency l would work hard for the NDC to wrestle the seat from the NPPMember of Parliament (MP). And that l would this opportunity to also fight to bring the many out of poverty, underdevelopment and despair in this place we call home.
“I am motivated to unite the party and activate its energies to improve our electoral fortunes in the 2024 elections if l win upcoming NDC parliamentary primaries in the area," he stressed.
Mr Frimpong who hopes to take over the position from the incumbent MP when he wins the NDC Parliamentary added that he wants to use this opportunity to secure a future of education and employment for the youth of Lower West Akim constituency
According to Mr Frimpong, his decision to contest the position is to see that years down the line Lower West Akim has a critical mass of citizens who are well resourced in terms of education, skills,employment and income.
“This together with socio-economic infrastructure upgrade shall be the cornerstone of our new development paradigm in the constitueny," he noted.
Mr Frimpong noted that people in the Lower West Akim were yearning for the return of the NDC and that he believes that he ,is the best person to win the NDC parliamentary primaries and subsequently wrestle the parliamentary seat from the incumbent NPP MP to improve economic challenges facing the constituents.
This, he said was because he has the experience to govern and implement people-centered policies to help ameliorate economic hardships facing teeming population in the constituency.
Mr Frimpong has begun winning endorsement of influential members and delegates of the party after toured hundred and thirty four (134) branches within the Lower West Akim Constituency to solicit for the support of the delegates and members of the NDC of the branches to contest the incoming party’s parliamentary race.
 
However, all the branch executives of the NDC in the constituency have given the green light to Mr Frimpong to pick the nomination forms to contest the parliamentary race after they carefully listening to his visionary messages.
 
All the branch executives of the NDC in the constituency have pledged their unflinching support to Mr Frimpong and declared their readiness to work to get him elected as NDC Parliamentary candidate for the area to lead them in the 2024 general elections.
Some of the branch executives purportedly stated that they believe in the competence of Mr Frimpong to wrestle the Lower West Akim parliamentary seat from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He pledged his readiness and commitment to bring onboard measures that would generate turnout needed to defeat the NPP Member of Parliament for the area in the 2024 general elections when he is elected the NDC parliamentary candidate.
He assured members and supporters of the party to wrestle the seat from NPP MP in the 2024 general elections if the delegates and members of the NDC voted massively for him to win the NDC upcoming parliamentary primaries in the area.
He said, "I want to contest because I think we need leadership in the Lower West Akim constituency. The leadership hasn't been very good because the people of Lower West Akim haven't got the development they want.
Mr Frimpong said, "I didn't start working in constituency when I came into politics. I started working there when I was a child".
"I using Darling Boy Fan Club in the West Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region promote quality education in the locality. I have been empowering and developing society through selflessness, personal commitment, financially and innovatively. I am helping supporting community development, personal development through education, finding jobs and scholarships for people to see what I could do for development
He urged all his opponents to run a good campaign to make it easier to get along after the election.
"All my rivals should also remember that the most important thing is to win the general elections. It doesn't matter if you are an MP because you don't gain much if you are an MP in opposition, so let's not do things that will hurt the party, Mr Frimpong concluded by saying: "It is important for the NDC to be united going into the 2024 general elections. That's the main way we will win the general elections."
