The Divisional Chief of Krokobite under the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Ofei III has now resorted to drag some journalists who generally found of writing what the chief described as "series of fake news" against him to the National Media Commission (NMC) so that they would come to substantiate their misinformation against him.

According to him, he has noticed that there are recent upsurge of fake media reports against him by some selected journalists of some news papers and online news portals in Accra.

The gazetted Krokobite Chief stated that he has severally sounded a strong warnings to these journalists to avoid being used as conduits for the propagation of fake news against him but they  woefully have refused.

"Now l decided that l would go after any journalist who writes fake news against me.

And that l am going to do this by way of dragging the journalists to the National Media Commission for those journalists to come and explain the details information about the fake news they carried out against me.

"But if he or she was not be able to explain, then l would seek advise from the NMC to take the legal action against these journalists for justice to prevail. Because in journalism l know that the journalists should not just write fake news against someone without cross-checking from the person whose names were mentioned in that story," he stated

He added that "I am not ganging against any media practitioners but l am saying that the

journalists must be professionals and do their work in the way that they were trained to."

“The must watch out against the circulation of information that has not been confirmed. The Journalists l told are not just social media commentators.

"They are the professionals who are discharging the responsibility of providing information that is necessary for the education of our people. What it means, therefore, is that it is not every information that come to you that you must go ahead to publish without doing your responsible journalism," the Krokobite Chief warmed.

Nii Ofei III was reacting to the media publication which suggested that an Accra Circuit Court presided over by His Lordship

Mr Emmanuel Essandoh has issued a bench warrant for the Nii Ofei III for engaging in various crimes in the area, including threatening to kill the head of the Nii Arde Nkpa Family.

Speaking in an interview with journalists Nii Ofei III refuted media report which is being currently circulated on both traditional and social media platforms to the effect that an Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

The gazetted Krokobite Chief stated that the publication claimed that the court has ordered for his arrest for engaging in various crimes in the area, including threatening to kill the head of the Nii Arde Nkpa Family, Mr. Daniel Nii Arde Tagoe.

Nii Ofei III has described the allegation as, “unacceptable, malicious, libelous, and an insult to the intelligence of the principal kingmakers and elders of Kokrobite who installed him as the chief of the area.”

"In my life as a person I have not even killed a fowl or bird before so why should l threat to kill a human being. These are lies. I can boldly state that no court has issued a bench warrant for my arrest and thus I am kin hiding," Nii Ofei III who is a gazetted Chief of Krokobite declared.

Nii Ofei III lamented about how six uniformed police officers from the Accra Regional Police Headquarters led by some holigans invaded his private residence at Krokobite a couple of days ago.

He stated that the police, including some thugs, Evans Djabu Mensah, Bright Ansah, Djabu Ali Ramal forced his wife to accept a letter on his behalf, which they claim is from the Accra Regional Police Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service inviting him (Nii Ofei III) to come to the court to answer some alleged criminal charges leveled against him by Nii Arde Nkpa Family, Mr Daniel Nii Arde Tagoe.

"So when l came home from my village in Dankyira, my wife sorrowfully reported the incident to me that some six men with two police vehicles led by Evans Djabu Mensah, Bright Ansah, Djabu Ali Ramal forced to enter into my house and forced her to collect a letter and subsequently took her a photographer," the Chief confirmed.

He said when he asked his people to read the letter and the context of the letter is inviting him to come to the court at that time he was not feeling well.

"So l ask two of my elders to go to the court on my behalf for which they did by way of appearing in the court on March 1, 2022 for which all accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Essandoh adjourned the case to Tuesday March 8, 2022.

He added that his two elders also went to the court to represent him on Tuesday March 8, 2022 because he still not feeling.

"So when from the allegations that court has ordered for my arrest. l think the writers of the story didn't actually knows what it means for bench warrant from the court. If you failed to appear in court, the bench warrant is issued to compel your appearance before the judge," he schooled his critics.

He emphasized that he knows that such story was a cooked or concocted one from those who are fighting against him about the stool to create the impression that he (Nii Ofei III) doesn't respect the law of the land.

According to Nii Ofei III, he is a law abiding citizen who is the only legitimate, customarily, traditionally and legally installed Chief of Kokrobite and that he would be the last person to virtually turn down the invitation of the court of competent jurisdiction to answer questions.
