Veteran Ghanaian artiste, Kojo Antwi, has stated that he is extremely careful when dealing with matters of politics.

According to him, severe consequences arise overtime when an entertainer endorses a particular political side. He stated that whether the party wins or loses, the artiste will still be affected by their choices in one way or the other along the line in their respective musical careers.

He said this with regards to the numerous Ghanaian celebrities who have publicly taken sides in the current ongoing battle between the two biggest political parties in Ghana; the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress. Some artists have already started endorsing their presidential candidates ahead of the 2020 presidential elections.

Kojo Antwi has dropped his words of warning for them. He explained that from his experience, nothing good comes out of taking sides in the long run. The legend continued that apart from the negative effect that it has on careers of artistes, partisan politics also brings about division in the industry.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Kojo Antwi said that most of the politicians are his friends as they come to his shows. But he will never endorse any of them publicly because entertainers should always stay neutral.

"I remember once I was on stage and I said something that some them took as an endorsement and it provoked a huge debate and that was when I knew that what I do or what I say carry a lot of weight so I have to be careful,” he said.

“I was a musician before JJ came to power, he left, ex-president Kufuor came to power, he left, President Atta Mills came to power, he left. John Mahama came to power, he left, and now Nana Addo is in power and I’m still here,” he concluded.
