The President of the Hwidiem Traditional Council in the Ahafo Region, Osuodumgya Berima Apeadwaa Boafo II, and his divisional chiefs have donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to market women at Hwidiem.

Making the presentation, Nana Osuodumgya Berima Apeadwaa Boafo II advised his people to adhere to coronavirus health precautions due to the high rise of the pandemic in the second wave.

“Covid-19 is real, many people are contracting the virus across the world,” he said.

“We should all be calm. This is nothing to worry about. It rather indicates that Hwidiem has a standardised hospital, so nobody should panic about the centre. All preventive protocols must be adhered to, and nobody should take chances with regards to the disease.”

According to Nana Osuodumgya Berima Apeadwaa Boafo II, the wearing of face masks would now be mandatory in Hwidiem assuring that “the Traditional Council will collaborate with the police to ensure the wearing of face masks to all public places in Hwidiem, especially markets and transport stations, is enforced."

He added that “as a matter of urgency, everyone must wear a face mask. Refusal to do so will warrant your arrest by the police.”

The market women thanked the traditional authorities for the support shown them.

They assured Nananom (chiefs) to make good use of the items to prevent the virus from spreading.

Nana Osuodumgya Berima Apeadwaa Boafo II further advised the people to observe the protocols put out by the Ghana Health Service such as wearing nose masks, washing of hands with soap under running water, use of sanitisers, and practising physical and social distancing to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
