It has been alleged that top celebrities in the country have fallen for a scam in the disguise of an award scheme over the weekend.

According to the reports, a man identified as Dr Kwame Owusu Fordjour aka Dr UN who paraded himself as a representative of the United Nations (UN) presented some awards to top Ghanaian personalities Over the weekend, Saturday, August 29, 2020.

Winners of the award received a plaque and what looks like a gold urn which was later discovered to be a cheap cocktail shaker.

Investigations revealed that the Ghanaian in charge of the awards is in fact a fraud impersonating the international body.

He had presented awards to the likes of Sarkodie, D-Black, Berla Mundi, Vice-Chancellors, and Chiefs whom he gathered under one roof to present them "awards"  for their contribution to their various industries.

Photos and videos of the "event"  were published on social media with many media outlets reporting on the program. The stars also took to their respective social media handles to share their success with their fans.

Legendary rap god, Sarkodie excitedly shared images of his "triumph" on his page. He wrote: “A great honor to receive the 7th Global Leadership Service to Humanity award … RIP To a great son of the Land Mr. Kofi Annan … Your legacy is still alive”

The rapper thought he had received a 7th Global Leadership Service for Humanity Awards from the Kofi Annan Foundation over the weekend. 

The award scheme has however been alleged to be a scam after it was claimed that the UN issued a statement saying they did not know the man. No official citing of the statement has been found.

Although it has not been revealed what Dr. UN's motive is or his aim in constructing such an elaborate scam, more discoveries are still being made on the story.
