"Hon. Osei Assibey is leading NPP to opposition" - aggrieved Drivers
Hon. Osei Asibey, KMA Mayor.

Drivers of King Jesus Drivers' Union, Adum-Pampaso in the Ashanti Region - Kumasi have disclosed that, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Chief Executive, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi is leading the ruling party, NPP to opposition.

According to them, after his appointment for more than two and half years as the KMA boss, the Kumasi Mayor has distracted and interfered their work as Drivers at Adum-Pampaso giving them nothing toboast as drivers’ Union. The Pampaso station based on the report of the motorist has been there since 1961 and have had no complications from the previous governments yet the incumbent Mayor wants to deny them of what is rightfully theirs.

Expounding on their role played as members of the New Patriotic Party, they disclosed that, before NPP won the elections in 2016, they organized buses for campaign schedules without taking money from anyone due to the love they have for the party in the knowledge of the KMA boss yet he never cautioned them to evacuate from the Pampaso land.

“We played a role in bringing the NPP back to power so why now. Osei Asibey (Mayor) says he want the trotro cars to operate in this territory instead of the taxi. We will never agree to that. He employed soldiers here sometime and they did discipline us. I was beaten mercilessly for no wrong all because the party we fought hard to empower them is now striking against us,” a driver said.

The subject of burdening the streets with mini stations was an issue consented by the drivers yet they want to know why other stations at Central Market and Adehyeman have all been unrestricted.

“Stations at Adehyeman and Central Market do load passengers by the streets. They have not been interfered. Why us?” he enquired.

“We are urging the president of Ghana, Nana Addo and the entire New Patriotic Party Executives take a stand on this matter because King Jesus Drivers Union have members over nine hundred (900) across the country and if we have to embark on a heavy demonstration, it will affect the party in the upcoming elections”.

The aggrieved car users at the King Jesus Drivers’ Union therefore cautioned the incumbent party's National Executives to be watchful because Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi is progressively leading the party to opposition in Ashanti Region base on his actions.
