HIV cases on the increase in Dormaa; 3,087 women infected
Dormaa Municipality record a high rate of HIV cases in five months and most of the people with the virus are ladies.
HIV cases in Dormaa Municipality are on the increase as data indicates 3,087 women have contracted the virus from January to May this year.
78 men are recorded to have been infected with the virus within the same period.
The health promotion office of Dormaa Municipal health directorate, Mrs Felicia Gyan, explained that the rate at which “the HIV/AIDS virus is increasing in the municipality is getting out of hand”.
She said the trend showed that people in the Municipality were not heeding to the call for behavioural change in spite of sustained education on the dangers of the pandemic.
Giving details Mrs Felicia Gyan, health promotion officer expressed worry about the increasing prevalence of the disease in the Municipality and expressed that most of the people with the virus are ladies.
