Ashanti Regional Health Directorate begins deployment of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines.

According to the Deputy Health Director in the Ashanti Region, Dr Michael Rockson Adjei, the COVID-19 weekly confirmed cases has stayed below 15 for the past five weeks, yet cautioned the people in the region not to be complacent because the covid-19 does still exist.

He added that the aim of the Health Directorate is to vaccinate not less than 60% (3.6 million) of the region’s population. He told Soireenews that with the help of the Directorate, the government has received and deployed Astra Zeneca, Johnson and Johnson and Sputnik V to the various health centres and has been used to vaccinate almost 660,000 people in the region.

"The government of Ghana through Covax and other diplomatic arrangements has received Pfizer and Moderna Vaccines and the Ashanti Region has been allocated 184,800 doses of Moderna and 277,108 doses of Pfizer Vaccines and it will be deployed to all districts," he told.

Dr Michael Adjei asserted that "all the Covid-19 waves we’ve witnessed in this country were preceded by mass movements." He pleaded to people in the Ashanti region to get vaccinated to avoid a possible fourth wave as we head into Christmas.

He again disclosed that all the vaccines have safety profiles and offer protection against the variance of the virus.
