Hairdresser, 27, who stabbed boyfriend to death remanded for two weeks

A family member of the deceased,  Eric Marfo, said the family is hopeful the laws of the land will serve their deceased brother justice.

The 27-year-old hairdresser who stabbed her boyfriend to death has been remanded two weeks into police custody by the Sunyani District Court “B” presided over by His Honor Jojo Amoah Hagan.

Police at Abesim in Sunyani Municipality arrested Hilda Asumani, a 27-year-old hairdresser, for allegedly stabbing to death her boyfriend, Prince Yaw Aboagye, a 30-year-old Heavy duty machine mechanic of Oti Yeboah Sawmill in Abesim after a complainant Akwasi Acheampong, lodged a complaint to the police over the incident.

The deceased and the accused according to some tenants who spoke to Soiree News were lovers who lived together at the Oti Yeboah quarters in Abesim.  

The deceased who suffered multiple wounds on his neck and chin is said to have been in a relationship with the suspect for about six years and had a two(2) year old child.

The tenants reviewed that, the two had engaged in series of unprovoked quarrels for some time but found the deceased who was popularly called ‘engineer’ dead in his room on Tuesday morning June 7.

Prosecutor Sergeant Agyenim Boateng told the court the suspect only defended herself in the midst of a heated argument between the two lovers which led to the death of the deceased. He pleaded with the court to grant the police time to complete their investigation.

His plea was considered and His honour Jojo Hagan adjourned the case to June 24 and remanded the accused two weeks into police custody.

The accused Hilda Asumani Embo is facing a murder charge and the court will decide her fate in the next hearing on June 24.

A family member of the deceased,  Eric Marfo who spoke to Soiree News after the court sitting said they were only informed their brother was dead but got to know the cause of his death when they arrive at Abesim from Akyim Swedru in the Eastern Region where the deceased hails from.

He said the family is hopeful the laws of the land will serve their deceased brother justice.
