A group in the New Patriotic Party known as Bawumia Fun Club has said some greedy supporters in the party have made up their minds to tarnish the good image of the Vice President.
Reacting to the viral video circulating on most social media platforms where a section of people in NPP T-shirts, parading themselves as the party’s Identifiable groups in Ashanti Region, angrily lambasting the Vice-president Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, for allegedly denying them entry to his residents in Accra when they paid a courtesy call.
The chairman for the Bawumia Fun Club, Mr. Eric Twumasi together with the national executives at a press conference in Kumasi however, debunked the allegations, stating that “the move was a strategy to tarnish the reputation of the Vice President.”
According to the Chairman, Dr. Bawumia is a true statesman and has the NPP party and its members at heart, so such allegations need to be abrogated with immediacy since the act was staged to chastise the veep.
In the viral video, members said NPP folks are seen seriously threatening vice-president not to dream of contesting as flagbearer in 2024.
Subsequently, the Chairman at the presser stipulated that Asantes are in full support of Dr. Bawumia should he intend to contest the NPP flagbearership in 2024.
He added that some undisclosed party gurus have planned to contest as NPP 2024 candidates, but believes Dr. Bawumia will be the right candidate.
"We, the members of Bawumia Fun Club and Asanteman are devotedly behind Dr. Bawumia and will continue to rally for his success to enable him to lead our dear NPP party", he added.
