Greater Accra Red Cross Society Rubbishes Media Reports Of The Election Of Its New Management Committee
The Management of the Greater Accra Red Cross Society has rubbushed the reports which went viral on social media platforms that the New Greater Accra Executives Committee of Ghana Red Cross Society elected.

According to the management of the Greater Accra Red Cross Society it has sighted a news publication carried by Kantanka Television on its AKWANSOSEM news bulleting on Monday, May 22, 2023 with the headline: "Ghana Red Cross Society; New Greater Accra Executives Elected after Two Years of Inactive Service. "

Following this development, the Greater Accra management of the society in a  strong worded press statement singed by its Regional Chairman, Dela Ashiagbor entreated  the public to ignore the publication and treat it with the contempt it deserves.
According to the statement which was copied to Soireenews.com, the current Greater Accra Regional Management Committee whose term of office ends in June 2023 and same body mandated by the Ghana Red Cross Constitution of the Society to organize Regional Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the election of new management committee members has NOT organized any such meeting for that purpose.
"We therefore wish to state that if any group of persons have organized any meeting and elected some officers purported to be Regional management committee members, that meeting is unconstitutional and illegal and as such those members cannot hold themselves as management committee members of Greater Accra Red Cross Society, unless it is an attempt by the Acting Secretary-General Solomon Gayoni Gbolo and the National President who were seen and names mentioned in that news item as high ranking members of the Society behind the supposed meeting in order to create another management committee to run parallel with the existing constitutionally mandated committee.
"An action we find very unfortunate and must be condemned by all well-meaning members of the Society and Ghanaians as a whole," the statement noted.
It indicated that the existing 12-member Management Committee for the Greater Accra Red Cross Society, headed by Mr. Dela Ashiagbor was elected into office on Saturday, June 26, 2021 during the Region's AGM to serve a two-year term as stipulated in the Society's constitution. Over the period, the committee has diligently executed its mandate ensuring that the Society renders service to our target group as per the service charter of the society.
The statement averred that the committee has also maintained relationship with the leadership at the National Headquarters, the National Management Board, the International Society leadership, at the National Headquarters, the National Management Board, the International Society leadership, Partners and all other Stakeholders.
It asserted that the correspondences between the Regional Committee and all other organs of the Society including National Headquarters, headed by the National President on day-to-day business of the Society are available to the public as evidence of the existence of the Regional Committee and its operations over the period.
According to the statement, this goes to proof the fact that the existing Regional Committee has been active in running the Greater Accra Region since elected into office, adding that it is therefore very surprising and mind bothering for anyone to suggest that the leadership of the Region has been inactive.
"We consider that reportage as mischievous and a calculated attempt by some unscrupulous group of individuals within the National Society who always seek their personal interest at the expense of the National Society.
"As per the Society's calendar, arrangements are far advanced to organize a constitutionally approved AGM for the region which would consider and approve the report of the region, consolidated accounts, budgets and finally elect new management members," the statement said.
The statement appealed to the members of the society to remain calm and remember that it is the regional Management Committee that has the sole mandate to organize AGM for the region and not any other member of the Society.
The statement stressed that the Society's constitution is very clear on this and it would be implemented to the latter.
