Jack Grealish will not feature against Liverpool as Aston Villa visit Anfield on Saturday due to injury.

The Villa captain sustained a Shin injury and has been out of action in Vila’s last seven games as well as England’s world cup qualifiers.

The 25-year-old was expected to make a return last week against Fulham but felt discomfort in the shin again and the Sun reports that he has been advised he needs another three weeks to fully recover.

Grealish will be out for the rest of April and is set to be back for England’s Euro squad in May.

Villa are ninth on the Premier League table after 29 matches. They will play Manchester City after the Liverpool game and reports reveal that the team’s medics want Grealish to feel the full benefit of that break and he will not be risked against City.

Their trip to Goodison on May 1 has been scheduled as the most likely return date for the midfielder and he is confident that the right balance of rest will see him return to his best.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Spurs and Palace are games waiting to be honoured by the Midlands club and the presence of the skilful player will be needed to climax the League.

Gareth Southgate is reportedly monitoring the progress of the player’s recovery and is understood to be happy with the amount of game time Grealish will have under his belt by the end of this season.
