Ministry of Roads and Highways, headed by Kwasi Amoako-Atta has announced the halting of award of the new road contractors under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration until further noticed.

The directive was contained in a one-page letter intercepted by the Soireenews signed by the Coordinating Director of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Engineer Dr Abass M. Awulo.

The letter of the directive was copied to the various directors of the National and Regional Ministries in the country.

The letter reads in part; ' management of the Roads and Highways has been instructed not to award any new routine or periodic maintenance contracts till further notice.

The letter continued that; "You are therefore to take note and abide by this directive.

"Kindly inform all the MMDAs within your jurisdiction to obey this directive from the Ministry of Roads and Highways," the letter stressed.

It concluded that; "In a consequence, any payment certificate received for a new contract shall be returned to its original sources."
