The District Chief Executive of Obuasi East, Madam Faustina Amissah has allayed the fears of many Ghanaians surrounding the Astra-Zeneca Covid-19 vaccine procured by the government for Ghanaians saying the government will not import vaccines that will kill citizens.

Speaking to SN24 news after taking the first jab of the vaccine, the DCE said the vaccine is not painful neither does it have any abnormal side effects.

"I have taken my jab and I must say it is very safe to use. One thing I want Ghanaians to understand is that the Government will not import vaccines to kill Ghanaians " she said.

She said, “the vaccination just kicked off, all frontline health workers, security personnel, people with underlying health conditions and those over 60 years will be vaccinated".

“The team is divided, some will be at AGA hospitals, Jude hospital, Bryant Mission hospital, and a mobile team, that will be plying the remote areas with health facilities" she concluded.

The District Health Director Madam Delphine Gbogblovor speaking to Soiree News said, there is no difference between the vaccine administered on President Nana Addo and that which will be administered to the citizens.

"There's no difference between the vaccine administered on the president and that of the citizens, it’s the same thing and it is the only sure means to protect us from Covid-19," she said.

Obuasi East District has been endowed with 7,000 pieces of the Astra-Zeneca Covid-19 vaccines to help fight coronavirus in the district.
