Government to Launch GHS 100 Billion Economic Recovery Programme

Government has announced its plan to roll out a GHS100 Billion support scheme, to help businesses recover from the scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, revealed this on the floor of Parliament today [July 23,2020] when he was presenting the 2020 Mid-Year Budget Review.

According to the Finance Minister, the 42-months scheme called the ‘Coronavirus Alleviation Revitalization Enterprises Support’ (CARES) Programme will transform the economy towards massive socio-economic development post-Coronavirus.

Ken Ofori-Atta indicated that the ‘ambitious and unprecedented’ programme is in line with the President’s directive for a COVID-19 recovery strategy.

 “I am happy to announce that the President will in the coming weeks launch a GHS100 billion development programme. It is an ambitious and unprecedented three and a half year programme called Coronavirus Alleviation Revitalization Enterprises Support (CARES) Programme. The Ghana CARE programme ‘obaatanpa’ programme will anchor the comprehensive programme for our transformation as a society.”
