Gomoa Nyanyano: Fisher Folks Perform Rituals to Increase Heavy Catch after Close Season
Rituals performed at the sea

Fisherfolks at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the central region have performed traditional rituals at the Nyanyano Sea-shore with the belief of increasing heavy catch after the close season by the Ministry of Fisheries led by Honourable Mavis Hawa Koomson.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Acquah Culture on Monday, August 2, 2021, lifted the ban on fishing in the various communities across the country.

According to the chief Fisherman, Nana Affual Awotwe, they believe performing the tradition will enable ancestors to bless them with a heavy catch.

Speaking in an interview with the Media, the chief fisherman hinted that, traditional leaders in the area are supposed to perform the rituals after every close season having refused for the past years which has contributed to the low catch in Gomoa Nyanyano.

Meanwhile, some of the Fishmongers at Gomoa Nyanyano thanked the chief and the Elders for the rite to empower their trade.
