A retired minister of The Church of Pentecost, Prophet Jonathan Edmund Ameyaw, has urged Christians not to live in fear and panic in the face of COVID-19 pandemic because God still cares for them.

Prophet Ameyaw (Retd), who was speaking on PENT TV during the Twi Service on Sunday, May 10, 2020, in a sermon on the topic, "Does God Care For Me?", said that many Christians tend to doubt God's love and faithfulness when they find themselves in difficult situations.

Reading from Jeremiah 29:10-14, the retired minister, however, assured Christians of God's love and plans for them notwithstanding their plights, especially in this perilous time where the world is plagued with Coronavirus. He emphasized that God always has a plan to get His children to safety.

"Though COVID-19 has brought untold hardships on humanity, God still cares for us and has good plans for us. He will never forsake us; neither will He disappoint us," he assured. He added that God is able to do all things, stressing that, "unlike man, God's power, His ability, and knowledge is unlimited."

The former Executive Council Member of the Church explained that the Israelites became disappointed after they realized that they were to be in captivity for seventy years in Babylon instead of the short detention predicted earlier by the false prophets which had brought them hope and comfort.

However, he said, God through Jeremiah made His plans known to the Israelites which was for their welfare, peace, and future with hope.

He, therefore, urged Christians to keep trusting God to redeem them from this marauding virus.

Prophet Ameyaw indicated that since Christians have been justified through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, they have peace with God (Romans 5:1), and for that matter they should not be intimidated by COVID-19, saying, "those with the peace of God always set their heart at ease even in the midst of storms."

He noted with sincerity that the virus is deadly, however, he encouraged Christians to take solace in the fact that the God Almighty, whom they have believed, has power and solution to all problems, including COVID-19.

Prophet Jonathan Edmund Ameyaw (Retd) concluded his exhortation by advising Christians to submit to the will of God, repent from evil deeds, live a righteous life, and commit their ways to God inasmuch as they observe the laid down protocols to halt the spread of the virus.

He also reminded Christians of the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and charged them to live in readiness for His imminent return.
