Ghanaian actress, Gloria Sarkodie bagged the award for Best Supporting Actress at the 2020 Africa Viewers Choice Awards for her role in Shirley Frimpong-Manso's "Perfect Picture: 10 Years Later".

This was Ghana's only nomination at the event, which was held at the Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.

She swept the award in the presence of stiff competition, beating the likes of other impressive acts such as Toni Tones in King of Boys, Eucharia Anunobi in The Foreigners's God, Tina Mba in The Set Up and Mary Lazarus in Size 12.

Sarfo spoke prior to the event, that she was grateful her work was recognised even though she did not have many scenes in the movie. After the event, she could not believe that she had won it, as she confessed that the nomination in itself was already satisfying for her.

She also stated that the nomination was proof that the hard work she put in to execute the role has now been appreciated, also stating a couple of days ago that she was just "hopeful" to bring the award home.

On seeing that she had won the award,Gloria could not control herself and she burst in wild celebrations, as she started to roll on the floor and cry uncontrollably.

She was unable to travel from Ghana to Nigeria to receive her award due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus. The award was received on her behalf by Nigerian actresses Beverly Naya and Bimbo Ademoye, the former who also starred in Perfect Picture: 10 Years Later alongside Gloria.

She saw the awards ceremony from home, as she hosted some family and friends who joined her to watch the event on the big screen.
